As a leadership presence coach and keynote speaker, I view my role as a “professional mentor.” Although I work with a variety of clients, my passion is helping women leaders become even more influential by projecting their best authentic selves.
I believe in impression management. Leadership presence isn’t necessarily reflective of your true qualities and potential. Instead, it depends entirely on how other people evaluate you. As one female executive told me: “You need to show up each day the way you want to be perceived – which is simple to say, but difficult to accomplish unless you do your homework and really know yourself.”
I also believe in reinvention. Neuroplasticity is the ability of the brain to form and reorganize synaptic connections, especially in response to learning. Which means we can develop new skills, attitudes, and behaviors as long as we live. In that way, our "best authentic selves” are alway evolving.

In addition to coaching amazing, talented women, I speak at business meetings, association conferences, government agencies, and universities for over 300 client organizations in 27 countries. My programs offer strategies for leading collaborative teams, managing continuous change, projecting leadership presence, and using body language to increase impact and influence.
My favorite speaking engagements are women’s conferences: European Women in Technology in Amsterdam, Women in Sales in London, Women’s Leadership Conference in Trinidad, Women in Agriculture in Canada, and Women in Public Service in the United States - to list just a few. My topic at these events is either “Body Language for Women Who Lead” or “The Power of Presence for Women Who Lead.”
I’m the author of twelve books, including “The Silent Language of Leaders: How Body Language Can Help or Hurt How You Lead.” I’m a leadership blogger for Forbes and the creator of LinkedIn Learning’s most popular video course for the past three years, “Body Language for Leaders.” My work has been featured in media such as Industry Week, Investors Business Daily, CNN’s Business Unusual, PBS Marketplace, The Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post’s “On Leadership” column, MarketWatch radio, and the NBC Nightly News.
I've served as adjunct faculty at John F. Kennedy University in the International MBA program, at the University of California in the Executive Education Department, and for the Chamber of Commerce of the United States at their Institutes for Organization Management. I am a current faculty member for the Institute for Management Studies.

I began working when I was twelve, helping my dancing teacher with classes for younger girls in order to pay for my own lessons. At 15, while attending high school, I joined a repertory theatre company -- and when I was 17, I worked as a nightclub entertainer.
That was the beginning of my first career, working in theatre, movies, musicals, etc. where I was most often “type cast” as the dumb blond - or in my case, the dumb redhead. It was also when I first learned that perception supersedes reality. I remember when another cast member was questioned about sharing a dressing room with me. She was asked, ”Do you have to share with that really women?” Ironically, that was the same day I was accepted into MENSA.
I started college at the age of 30 and finished my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology a decade later, after which I opened a private practice as a therapist. As I began helping business leaders deal with the stresses and challenges in their jobs, I was invited into their organizations to work with their teams — and soon I was speaking at organizational functions. Incrementally, I built a solid reputation as a coach, author, and speaker.
